Hollywood binges on the written word

The Hollywood industry, once a distant dream for authors, is now a reality for more and more authors, with titles like "The Knockout Queen" and "Margo's Got Money Troubles" being optioned for the screen. Author Rufi Thorpe's fourth novel, "Margemarina," sparked a bidding war with A24 and Elle Fanning, and the adaptation is set to debut on Apple TV in April. Author Rich Green, head of book-to-film/TV development at the Gotham Group, said that while book adaptations have always been a valuable asset in Hollywood, they have now become more aggressive with book adaptations. The trend has quadrupled his business. Author involvement in the adaptation process is becoming more common, with authors now more likely to have more creative control.
