Alaska's News Source has reported several April showers this week, with the first storm already impacting the Southeast and the second remaining in the Bering Sea. The first of these storms is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain to the Southeast, with over 0.75 inches expected across Juneau and similar amounts likely in Sitka. The rest of Southcentral will see scattered showers, including a wintry mix, and rain will be the primary precipitation type. The Copper River Basin will receive the bulk of this rain, with roughly an inch of rain anticipated in Whittier. The second storm will impact Western Alaska before reaching Southwest Alaska, bringing another round of snowfall and rain along with wind gusts up to 50 mph. A Winter Weather Advisory remains along the Eastern Alaska Range until Saturday afternoon, with snow expected to accumulate from six to 12 inches in higher elevations.
