The Huntsville City Council has approved a lease agreement allowing construction of a 40-megawatt solar generation facility. The plant is expected to reduce costs for local ratepayers and enhance the area's energy resilience. Gemini Solar LLC, a company created by Eurus Energy, is owned by Toyota Tsusho and will construct the facility near the intersection of Wall Triana Highway and Sixth Street. The 25-year lease, which auto-renews for two five-year periods unless Gemini opts out, will cost the city $1,000 per acre per year, totaling $237,690 per year. The construction period begins within 14 months.
