In wake of new Aurora rules, Sugar Grove eyes changes to its regulations on data center developments

Sugar Grove, Chicago's western suburbs, is considering changes to its existing data center rules to further regulate future development projects. This comes in response to Aurora adopting strict new data center regulations following a moratorium on data center developments. Village President Sue Stillwell expressed concerns about the village's existing regulations and suggested that a moratorium may be placed on data centre development projects, similar to what Aurora recently did. The changes could include keeping current regulations unchanged or adjusting some of the village code on building height or changing the permitted uses in different data districts. However, these changes would not apply to plans approved within the village.
