Rideshare driver charged with allegedly kidnapping West Jordan 15-year-old

A 44-year-old man has been charged with attempting to kidnap a 15-year old girl while working as a Lyft driver in West Jordan. The incident occurred on February 7, 2026. The driver, identified as Victor Manuel Montilla, initially claimed to have had "connection problems" with his app and then began driving in the opposite direction of the girl's destination. Her mother, Karina Ramirez, tracked the ride's location and alerted her daughter when it stopped, but Montilla did not stop. The teenager ran away from the driver and was unharmed.
