A 23-year-old Oxnard man, Willis Nichols, has been sentenced to 94 years to life in prison for a violent crime spree that resulted in the death of one man and four injuries to four others. Nichols was found guilty of seven felony charges related to two separate shooting incidents in 2021 and 2022. He will be eligible for parole after serving 24 years in prison. Prosecutors allege that Nichols opened fire at an Oxnard Target store after a verbal altercation with other occupants and fled the scene in a Ford Mustang. He was apprehended eight days later after attempting to flee officers on foot. The jury found Nichols guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.
