Air strikes targeting Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) have killed three fighters and two Iraqi police, as the US-Israeli war on Iran continues to spill over Iraq's eastern border. The ex-paramilitary coalition, set up to fight ISIL, blamed the US and Israel for the deaths. The strikes also wounded two other fighters and six Iraqi soldiers. Since the war began, pro-Iran armed groups within the PMF have claimed responsibility for attacks on US interests in Iraq and beyond. The crisis, which began on February 28, now threatens to escalate into a protracted conflict.
