Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton won the Democratic primary to replace retiring Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill), a key test of billionaire Gov. JB Pritzker's influence. The primary was largely a three-way race between Stratton and US Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly. Stratton held about 40% of the vote when the Associated Press called the race in her favor. Pritzcher had supported Stratton's progressive track record and praised her as a "fighter." The race was dominated by a debate on immigration reform, with Stratton pushing for the abolition of ICE. However, super PACs backing Krishnamooorthi raised an estimated $30.5 million, including $19 million from his House campaign, and controversial contributions from the crypto industry.
