A settlement has been reached over allegations that the Biden administration pressured social media companies to restrict free speech. The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), representing the plaintiffs, claimed that the federal government unlawfully pressured, coerced, induced, and encouraged major social media platforms to censor their posts about the COVID-19 pandemic. The agreement prevents the federal authorities from influencing social media firms to censor content that contradicts the White House's stance on an issue. The settlement is pending final approval from a U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty in Louisiana’s Western District.
