Shasta County man, Timothy Ray Thompson, has pleaded guilty to hate crime and other charges after allegedly firing shots at a Spanish-speaking family outside their home in July. Thompson will be sentenced to 11 years in state prison, a term agreed upon by both the prosecution and defense. He also faces multiple enhancements to the charges, including hate crime enhancements for each member of the family and an enhancement for being armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony. The shooting occurred outside the home of a Spanish family and left no one injured. The case comes as hate crime appears to be on an upswing in California.
