Cleveland looks to raise fees at impound lot

Cleveland is considering increasing fees for drivers whose vehicles are towed to the city's impound lot. New legislation would increase daily storage fees at the Cleveland police impound facility, which is run by a private contractor. The proposal would cost $16 per day for the first five days, and $14 per day after that. Public Safety Director Wayne Drummond stated that Cleveland would still charge less than other major cities. A separate proposal, introduced in 2025, would exempt crime victims from paying any impound-related fees if the vehicle was taken during a police investigation.
