A SISTRIX analysis has revealed that AI Overviews have significantly reduced the click-through rate on Germany's top organic position by 59%. The study, conducted by founder Johannes Beus, found that when AIOs were present, the CTR at position 1 drops from 27% to 11%. This caused a significant decrease in the click through rate on a typical search, which typically leads to an organic click 57% of the time without an AIO. SISERTIX estimates that 265 million lost organic clicks per month across the German market. The most affected categories included parenting and baby content sites, health and home improvement categories, recipe sites, news and media sites, and shopping and travel booking sites.
