May's full "Flower Moon" was celebrated with stunning photos from around the world, with many capturing the natural light as it rose over landmarks and natural landscapes. The Flower Moon, named for the colorful blooms that appear in the northern hemisphere around the time it rises, was seen rising over the southern horizon, below the stars of the constellation Virgo. The photos were taken by Lokman Vural in New York, with Gary Hershorn capturing the rising room as it haloed the Statue of Liberty. Other photos include a stunning photo of the Flower Moon rising behind the Beyazit Fire Tower in Istanbul, Turkiye, and a stunning shot of the lunar disk rising over mountains near Erbil in Iraq.
