Chinese startup Sustain Space has debuted a flexible robotic arm that can be used to refuel and repair spacecraft, and potentially extend the lifespan of spacecraft. The robot was attached to a satellite launched on March 16 and is designed to carry out complex in-orbit operations. It successfully completed a series of simulated orbital tasks, including ground-controlled, autonomous, vision-guided refueling simulations, and force-compliant manipulation and precision control. This demonstration represents a significant advance in the Chinese space industry towards maintaining orbiting spacecraft.
