A jury has indicted Deputy Aileen Jimenez Barboza, a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy, for the 2025 shooting death of 36-year-old Levincar Swanson at a north Harris County gas station. The incident occurred when someone reported that Swanson was acting erratically and damaging the gas pumps at a gas station off I-45 North Freeway and West Road. BarboZA and another deputy arrived and Swanson initially complied with their commands but began resisting arrest. A struggle ensued when the deputies used their Taser on him, leading to an escalating situation. An internal Affairs review found that Barboaza violated multiple policies during the shooting.
