Former North Yorkshire hotelier is jailed for hygiene offences

Former North Yorkshire hotelier, Robert Baillie, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for food hygiene offences. He was charged following an environmental health inspection in 2018 and had been living off grid in Scotland the following year. Despite denying the charges, he was found guilty in his absence and claimed he had not deliberately evaded justice. The judge was unable to award costs to the council due to his lack of means and the length of the sentence.
