Meta has acquired Moltbook, a Reddit-like platform where AI agents can make and comment on posts. The acquisition comes as part of Meta Superintelligence Labs, which is looking at ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses. MoltBook was launched by Matt Schlict and Ben Parr and is powered by the open-source AI assistant OpenClaw. The platform went viral earlier this year for several posts, including one that questioned the nature of AI consciousness, though experts found humans may have been behind some of the most prominent ones. The purchase of Moltbot comes just weeks after OpenAI announced its new CEO, Michael Schanich, and amid uncertainty about the future of Mott.
