The Antioch Police Department has launched a transparency portal for residents to see how Flock Safety is used in the city. The portal includes information on who the department grants access to and who organizations share their data with. No federal or law enforcement agencies outside of California can access information captured by Flock. The system automatically deletes license plate and vehicle data after 30 days and requires a valid reason for a search request. This comes amid privacy concerns that the cameras could be used for aggressive federal immigration crackdowns under the Trump administration. Other Bay Area police departments have also launched similar transparency portals, with the Piedmont Police Department becoming the first in the country to do so.
