Rockville Centre School District has proposed a $141.3M budget, a 1.03% increase from the previous year's budget, with 78.35% allocated to programs, 12.93% to the capital budget, and 8.72% to administration. The budget also includes staff reductions, which have been changed after discussions with teachers and administrators’ unions and public comment. Among the 13 positions restored in the proposal are a facilitator role at Wilson and one at Hewitt, as well as ELA, math, science and social studies positions at the high school and middle school. Despite these positions being eliminated, the teachers’ Association President, Lesli Deninno, expressed concern over the potential programmatic cuts and called for transparency from the board. All votes voted in favor of the budget, while Trustee Erica Messier voted against it.
