More record heat but change is coming in New Mexico

The heat high is expected to shift eastward from the Bootheel to between the bootheel and El Paso, leading to above-average temperatures across the country, potentially breaking records in New Mexico and the Southwest. However, wind gusts are expected to increase, potentially increasing the fire danger levels in areas like Valencia County where the Unified Fire is burning. Fire weather watches will be put in place for Thursday.
