The setup also includes a bidirectional EV that can send power back to the house when needed. Reilly argues that the real benefit of pairing an EV with an electric car with a solar system is the ability to make your own fuel and set the price of refueling by selecting when and when you can, and storing the most affordable energy in your batteries for use later.
