The first signs of spring are already emerging across central Indiana, with plants and trees waking up earlier than usual due to one of the warmest and wettest starts to March on record. Early blooming flowers like Siberian squill and crocus are among the first to bloom each year due to their preference for cooler weather conditions. Other notable spring milestones include the opening of magnolia trees and the development of small reddish buds on maple trees. Looking ahead, several other milestones are expected for spring, with peaches and cherry blossom trees expected to arrive in late March or early April.
