The Trump administration has dismantled USAID, cutting significant funding and consolidating essential aid under the umbrella of the State Department. The New York Times has published a retrospective on the former USAID employees and employees of the groups it funded, including former senior VP at a food security company, Sheryl Cowan, who made $272,000 a year, and Amy Uccello, who worked for USAID for over two decades and her husband, who ran a nonprofit almost entirely funded by USAID may lose their house if they don't receive government assistance programs. Conservatives have defended their victory in the administration's dismantling of USAID as a success story.
