The U.S. Supreme Court is considering a decision to allow the government to deport 350,000 Haitians while a court dispute over their legal status continues. The Trump administration has asked the court to lift a lower-court order blocking the government from ending Temporary Protected Status for Haitians. If the court agrees, the administration could begin removing Haitian nationals living in the United States, including about 45,000 living in Ohio. Lawyers for Haitian immigrants have urged the court not to take the case, arguing that courts have long reviewed federal agency decisions to ensure the government follows the law. The government argues that conditions in Haiti are improving and that it is against the national interest of allowing Haitian nationals to remain.
