The March 31, 2023 tornado that hit central Arkansas has marked one year since the devastating EF-3 tornado that struck central Arkansas. The tornado touched down in Little Rock, with patients at the UAMS Medical Center witnessing it as it made its way through the capital city. Jessica Owen was in labor at the time of the storm when nurses had to move her to safety, but the tornado passed and she was moved back to her room hours later. Jackson Freer was home alone when the storm hit, but survived the terrifying experience, crediting his faith for his survival. Freer and his family were forced to relocate for around a year after their home was heavily damaged and had to pay $100,000 out of pocket in repairs, including replacing siding, replacing a roof, and a new pool house after the old one was uprooted.
