Forsyth County parents rush to reunite with students after fatal mass shooting lockdown

Hundreds of Forsyth County parents rushed to reunite with students attending Mount Tabor High and Thomas Jefferson Middle School following a fatal mass shooting incident that claimed the lives of two teenagers and injured an additional five teenagers. The incident occurred during a planned physical altercation involving several young individuals which escalated into a shootout at Leinbach Park in Winston-Salem. The names of the juvenile victims will not be released pending further investigation and collection of evidence from this case. In response to this incident, two Winston-salem/Forsyth County Schools were placed on a secure holding lockdown, locking all classroom doors and preventing students from leaving campus.
