Musk kicks off explosive OpenAI trial by slamming Altman, company for abandoning non-profit mission: ‘Not OK to steal a charity’

Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO, took the stand during the trial of OpenAI, alleging that the company's CEO, Sam Altman, had taken control of the non-profit group and turned it into a multi-billion dollar corporate enterprise. Musk accused Altman and OpenAI's president Greg Brockman of betraying the original mission of developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. He warned that the case would become case law and destroy the foundation of charitable giving in America. However, the defense argued that Musk's comments were his opinions and had no legal value. William Savitt, an attorney for OpenAI and its co-founders, accused Musk of attempting to attack OpenAI before launching a competing AI company.
