Soria's AB 1923 seeks $300M for distressed hospitals

A bill introduced by Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria (D-Fresno), AB 1923 aims to provide additional funding for distressed California hospitals. The bill, which builds off Assembly Bill 112, establishes the Distressed Hospital Loan Program with $300 million in interest-free loans for distressed hospitals. It also broadens eligibility, clarifies loan forgiveness terms and ensures that hospitals at risk of closure can participate in future funding rounds. AB 1923 has been supported by hospital industry leaders and has been a crucial lifeline for struggling facilities.
