Parden suggests starting the conversation with listening to your child's concerns and providing accurate information about their experiences. She also recommends being honest with kids, not hiding the truth, but making sure the information shared is right for their age. Pardens also suggests that if a child begins acting out or shuts down, it may be a sign they are struggling.
