The Kentucky legislature is advancing several education bills, including a bill that would require a 12-month expulsion for students who injure school staff. Another would ban the three-cueing reading method in favor of phonics-based instruction. A proposal to give the JCPS superintendent more power over the school board is also progressing. The state legislature is also considering major changes to Kentucky State University to address its financial issues. Senate Bill 185, sponsored by Sen.
