Hartford coalition demands officer terminations, mental health funding after two police shootings

A Hartford community coalition is demanding that city officials terminate the officers involved in two fatal police shootings last month. The North Hartford Public Safety Coalition, made up of religious leaders, neighbors, and business owners, has outlined five demands, including termination of the officers who discharged their firearms in each fatal shooting. The Office of the Inspector General is investigating the shootings and has not yet determined whether either was justified. The coalition also demands permanent funding for mental health crisis response systems and the Police Accountability Review Board is fully activated.
