The American Woodcock, often referred to as "dancing bird," has been attracting crowds at Bryant Park this spring. The bird, which is related to the sandpiper family, moves with a gentle rocking and steady bob, which has been described as a dance move. Experts from the Cornell Lab have explained that the dancing bird's movements stir earthworms beneath the soil, making them easier to find. Despite its brief stay at the park, the bird will soon leave for its spring migration.
