Federal prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty for Elias Rodriguez, the man accused of murdering a young couple at the Capital Jewish Museum in D.C. last year. The U.S. attorney’s office alleges that Rodriguez was motivated by political, ideological, national, and religious bias, contempt, and hatred. Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, a couple who had met while working for the Israeli Embassy in D., were both killed. The announcement comes as the Trump administration seeks to increase its use of capital punishment. The case was reviewed by Jeanine Pirro, the U.K. attorney for D. C., following extensive review of the facts and the law.
