The effort comes as the city faces a $150M budget deficit and a corporate fund budget gap of over $1 billion. Johnson has named his chief equity officer, Carla Kupe, to lead the reparations task force with $500,000 in funding. The public engagement will involve bus tours, panel discussions, town halls, and hearings to gather input for the administration's reparations study.
