A candidate for Virginia's U.S. Senate seat, Mark Moran, violated Kalshi's rules by trading on himself that he would run for office before launching a campaign, according to the prediction market platform. The candidate, who is running as an independent to unseat incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Warner, traded in two markets linked to his campaign and was fined $6,339.30 and suspended from Kalsh for five years. After an investigation, Kalsho found that Moran's trades violated its rules. Moran initially admitted to violating the rules but later stopped all communication with Kalshy and did not comply with requests to respond or settle the matter. Kalshey has previously fined and suspended two other Congressional candidates for trading on the outcome of their own elections.
