Around 30% to 40% of Transportation Security Administration agents at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport have called out due to a lack of paychecks during the partial government shutdown. This has led to massive security lines, which stretched past checkpoints and through the baggage claim area. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were called in to assist with crowd control. The parent company of Greyhound and FlixBus reported a surge in travelers seeking alternative transportation. The congestion at security checkpoints appeared to have decreased by late Monday night.
