A recent Harvard survey revealed that nearly three out of five young adults are now considering artificial intelligence (AI) as a threat to their careers, with 59% of respondents between 18 and 29 expressing concern about their job prospects. The study also revealed that employment for workers ages 22 to 25 in AI-exposed roles has already fallen 16% relative to less-expensive jobs. Students are shifting from traditional white-collar roles to more hands-on trades and other work they see as harder for AI to replace. This shift is already evident in the classroom, with enrollment in vocational-focused community colleges increasing by nearly 20% since 2020. The CEO of exam-prep app maker Pocket Prep, Peter Murphy, said the shift reflects growing anxiety about how AI could reshape entry-level jobs.
