North Carolina has announced its decision to dismiss coach Hubert Davis following a disappointing first-round NCAA Tournament exit. The decision comes after North Carolina's season ended in an 82-78 overtime loss to No. 11 seed VCU. This was the second consecutive early exit for the Tar Heels, which was without star freshman forward Caleb Wilson who led the team in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. Davis' contract, signed through June 30, 2030, includes a base salary of $1.25 million annually, $100,000 each year for the 2026 contract, and additional outside compensation, including payments from Nike and Learfield Sports. If he were fired, North Carolina would owe Davis $5.312 million.
