The Wyandotte County Unified Government has expanded its free trash and recycling cart program, distributing two free 96-gallon bins to every household in the county. The program aims to clean up streets, increase recycling rates and prevent trash from clogging storm drains. Davit Thao, who received his free bins, said he is already noticing a difference in the cleanliness of the street and the recycling rate. The county plans to launch phase three later this year, covering all households. The goal of the program is cleaner streets, more recycling, and less trash clog storm drains, as well as reducing litter.
