Mosquitoes are making an early appearance in Southern Nevada, raising concerns about diseases such as West Nile virus and malaria. The Southern Nevada Health District has set up 200 mosquito traps and has captured over 3,000 mosquitoes so far this year. The district also tests mosquitoes for diseases like West Nile. To reduce mosquitoes around homes, residents should eliminate standing water where they can breed. Additionally, they should ensure that doors and windows are properly screened, especially during the mornings and evenings.
