Kansas Democrats push cannabis decriminalization, GOP leadership blocks a vote

The Kansas House Democrats are pushing two bills that would decriminalize cannabis in the state, one of which would also allow it to be used for recreational use. However, Republican leadership in both chambers has blocked a vote. A recent survey found that over 70% of Kansans support the measures, and the industry is expected to generate close to $1 billion. Senate President Ty Masterson has stated that he will not allow a vote in the Senate as long as he is in power. The bills are not likely to pass this legislative session.
