A passenger on the MV Hondius, a luxury expedition cruise ship at the center of a hantavirus outbreak, has addressed rumors that social media is being censored from sharing their experiences online. The cruise company, Oceanwide Expeditions, confirmed that the ship departed from Cape Verde on Wednesday and is now en route to Spain's Canary Islands, where it is expected to arrive on Sunday, May 10. The outbreak began after a Dutch man on board died on April 11 and three passengers have died and several others are showing symptoms. Eight people are suspected to have contracted the virus, but only three have been confirmed through laboratory testing. Spain's Ministry of Health has approved quarantine procedures for the passengers disembarking the cruise ship, which will require them to undergo a PCR test and another seven days later to detect symptoms.
