The National Weather Service has reported that the atmospheric river over the Pacific Northwest is sending its heaviest rainfall over northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, resulting in 1.50 inches of rain in the north Oregon Coast Range overnight. Portland has received over a half inch of rainfall overnight, while areas south of Salem have seen less than a half. The mainstem rivers in the Willamette Valley are expected to flood, but some have already reached minor-to-major flood stage. The flood watch will remain in effect through Friday evening. The Historic Columbia River Highway is currently closed due to a slide east of Corbett and there is no estimate on when it will reopen. The weather service predicts that another 0.75 inches of rainfall is likely, with the high temp expected to reach near 53 degrees on Friday.
