Seastrophes industry business owners and workers in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, are concerned about the effects of a recent oil leak from the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) facility near Port Fourchon. Oil leaked from the facility on February 26, causing concern among seafood industry workers and business owners. Angela Portier of Faith Family Shrimp Company in Cocodrie, Angela Chauvin and Kim Chauvin, who have several seafood businesses, expressed concern over the potential economic impact of the spill. They also expressed a fear that consumers might shun local seafood due to the uncertainty surrounding this incident. A spokesman for LOOP confirmed that the source of the leak was secured immediately and the cause of the accident has since been replaced.
