The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce has questioned the University of New Mexico's decision to announce five presidential finalists, none of whom represent the largest demographic of our state. The chamber's mission is to promote economic development, enhance economic opportunities and provide business and workforce education with an emphasis on the Hispanic and small business communities in Albuquerque and New Mexico. The group argues that representation in leadership can shape priorities, build trust, and send a message that opportunity is real and attainable. They also urge investment in building stronger pipelines for Hispanic leadership in higher education.
