Ancient Footprints Suggest a Flying Predator Was Chasing Prey on Land

Paleontologists have discovered fossil footprints in South Korea that indicate a large, flying reptile was hunting for food on land. The footprints, which have been imprinted in a slab of rock for over 106 million years, indicate that the larger creature entered the scene first, moving at a stroll before suddenly breaking into a run. The smaller creature, which was seen galloping quickly on all fours, followed closely behind the larger animal. The discovery led to the discovery of a new genus and species named Jinjuichnus procerus. While the researchers can't rule out that the two creatures passed the same spot at different times, the evidence suggests an interaction that could potentially fatal for one of them. The research was published in the journal Scientific Reports.
