A leftist-led lawsuit by the Washington, D.C.-based Elias Law Group, aimed at redrawing Wisconsin's congressional maps ahead of November's midterm elections, has been dismissed by a three-judge panel of liberal state circuit court judges. The judges ruled that they had no authority to overturn a congressional map drawn by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2022 and dismissed a lawsuit challenging the lines as a partisan gerrymander. This move is part of a larger effort by Democrats to gain additional seats in Congress in an effort to take back the House of Representatives. The court's decision to dismiss the case was further undermined by the Supreme Court's refusal to review the maps, which the plaintiffs argue violate the constitutional separation-of-powers doctrine.
