The Loudoun Valley Estates Homeowners Association and HOA Roundtable have filed a petition with the State Corporation Commission (SCC) asking it to reconsider its decision to abandon the Golden to Mars power line project. The project is part of a three aimed at meeting the data center load in the Ashburn area, or "Data Center Alley." The SCC had previously ruled that undergrounding the lines was not feasible. However, a week later, Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed into law allowing for four pilot projects to build electrical transmission lines underground. The new power lines are needed urgently for power grid reliability.
