A new Texas House caucus, formed by State Rep. Brent Money (R-Greenville), aims to address the teachings of Islam in part by advancing legislation to prohibit Sharia practices that they believe oppress women or incite violence against non-believers. The caucus also aims to reinforce the Biblical foundations of Texas. The group's founder, Money, expressed concern over a growing Islamic influence in the state and expressed a desire to ensure there is no parallel legal system in Texas that treats people differently. The new caucus has been met with pushback, with Khalifa stating that Sharia Law does not include oppressing women.
