Acting Navy Secretary, Hung Cao, has pledged to build ships after his predecessor, John Phelan, was fired amid President Trump's push for accelerated shipbuilding. The move follows over 30 senior military officers being removed from their roles under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has been pushed out of his positions under the influence of the administration. Cao posted a video to social media listing his priorities to service members in the Navy, including taking care of their needs and maintaining the mission to defend the country. Phelon was ousted after 13 months into his role and becoming the first service secretary to be removed during Trump's second term.
